On this episode, I spoke to Keira from Liverpool, who for years had been going through the long process of breast reduction surgery. She took the NHS route which involved countless consultations and referrals over a long period of time and then of course a long waiting list. We discussed what life was like with Gigantomastia which is the medical term for an excess of breast tissue. She shared with me the limitations of living with larger than above-average breasts and the complications that it imposed on her life before and after the long-awaited surgery.

Keira and I discussed the stigma attached to corrective surgery on the NHS and the often classist and misogynistic opinions of the misinformed masses on this issue. Josie Cunningham who for years had been labelled as a burden on the NHS is an example of that very issue.

Not only did we have an incredibly insightful and candid discussion about this misunderstood topic, but Keira also shared some valuable advice for anyone listening who may be considering or may not have even considered reducing the size of their breasts.

Thank you so much to Keira for sharing with me. Keep us updated!
